New legal framework for eTIR to enter into force on 25 May
The new legal framework for eTIR within the TIR Convention has taken a key step forward. The UN Secretary General has confirmed that no TIR convention signatories have filed objections to the new global legal framework. It will therefore enter into force on 25 May this year.
This key milestone signifies widespread support for transport digitalisation and specifically for IRU’s and UNECE’s efforts over many years to put in place a sound legal basis for a fully digitalised TIR system.
The implementation of eTIR will further smooth border crossings, reduce transport times and increase security.
